Melbourne hosted the 2014 Australian National Kung Fu Wushu Championships on Sunday, 4 May at Monash University’s Sport & Recreation Complex in Clayton.
A record number of competitors from six states turned out to participate; the first time ever for a Victorian kung fu/Wushu event. Kung Fu Wushu Australia member schools from around the nation, including many new ones, sent their athletes, from children to seniors, to compete in a wide variety of events – from taiji to taolu; empty-hand and weapons; forms to controlled and full-contact sanda fighting.
The crowd of spectators were witness to a variety of events that provided an entertaining day for them, as the athletes competed for national titles.
